All (Good) Things Come To An End

Last night, that thing was working for Wegmans.  I stuck it out for about as long as it made sense.  Our debt is gone, my wife would like me home in the evenings, hours at Concert are increasing, my wife would like me home in the evenings, it looks likely I can work part time for my in-laws and keep our health insurance, oh, and my wife would like me home in the evenings.

So you may be asking, what was it like working at the greatest grocery store in the world.  It was a very good experience.  But it was mostly about “the tude.”  Some people had rotten attitudes and for them it was just another job.  No matter how good of a vision and leadership Wegmans had, they were too into themselves to catch on.

For me, it was an intense 7 months.  I offered all my extra time and energy.  And because I had a very specific goal, I managed to keep some excitement going the whole time.  I met some great people, both employees and customers.   I learned a lot, like how to love a person and not smash their bread no matter how rude they were.  I got a major taste of sacrifice, though not quite to the degree that people like my brother-in-law and other people who server in the military make.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by and made it a fun experience.  This is one cashier you won’t be seeing any more.  Now, Wegmans will return to just being our favorite grocery store.

Congrats bro. Very inspiring story that needs to be told. More people need to hear it. Especially in today’s America. Even though you look really dorky in that Wegman’s uniform, you are by far the coolest person I know (even if we only met the one time).

Great story and an inspiration to us all to remember that all work can (and should) be done for the glory of God by serving our neighbor.

I’ve been inspired these past months watching you walk out your goal of becoming debt free, always giving glory to God. Well done! And I am glad you can now just enjoy Wegmans as your favorite grocery store. Wegmans rocks. ;-)

    Blessings to you and @mrsnatescott!!

I am just commenting to pump your ego. You know I respect you already.

I’m surprised with all the ego pumping you’re able to fit your head under that Wedgeman’s cap.

@Larry thanks bro. yes, even collecting the trash and cleaning the bathrooms – which I did several Saturdays at Wegmans – can be honorable

@Kate thank you! yes, it was cool driving by it tonight, knowing i didn’t have to go to work there tomorrow

@Chad between the hair and the ego, the hat was on it’s loosest setting
