Our Progress: Month 7

The summer is in full gear with its heat and humidity here in the suburbs of D.C. We’ve flipped the calender yet again, and July 2008 is behind us. We celebrated the 4th by eating some Erie snappers, watching some fireworks, and by kicking off our 100 day countdown till we are debt free (it’s not too late to put in your idea). We celebrated Peter’s 1st birthday, and our 7th wedding anniversary. We also toyed (and by toyed, I mean researched, prayed, fasted, read, consumed, anguished, dreamed, interviewed) with the idea of having a home birth. In the end, it came down to the fact it just wouldn’t be the best financial decision for us right now.
Wegmans was particularly busy this month, as I must have been one of the two people who did not request any time off. And that was fine, because it helped out with our debt payment. We are really starting to think about what we are going to do when we are debt free how my work schedule will change and how our budget will be affected.
Speaking of our debt payment, we paid $2,700 bringing the total amount of debt down to $6,045! This marks seven months of not only not using credit or borrowing money, but six months of reducing our debt by at least $2,000 each month. A year ago, we were barely scraping by, loosing sleep as we stressed over how we would make it through the next month. What a turn around!
I can’t wait to hear about your progress!
