If I Were Debt Free…#80
Buy a Christmas Tree
My loverly wife suggested this one. Although we didn’t start the hardcore version of our journey to Debtfreeville until this year, we were in preparation a few months before. And thusly, (I’m practicing to be a pastor, Dearly Beloved) we didn’t have much of a Christmas. There were other reasons besides finances we decided not to, but money played the biggest role. So we went sans Christmas tree.
So this year, as the season approaches, and we come closer on deciding on a few major things, we can determine if we will get a Christmas tree and how much we can budget for celebrating Christmas.
Have you ever had that nagging feeling that there was something more to do with your life? I don’t remember exactly when it started for me...

Christmas trees are so expensive aren’t they?
Last year ours dried up so much, it was a HUGE fire hazard. I went the day after Christmas & got one for $50…LESS than a real one!
I vote for the fake tree. My first Christmas living on my own I had less than $20 for Christmas decorations and $11 of that went towards a fake tree that I still use 4 years later. Now, you can obviously spend more than that but fake trees are really worth in the investment when you’re strapped for cash.
