Positive Post Tuesday: My (Other) Parents

I just want to precede this post with a note. I know my readership is not in the 1000’s, but I know there are a few faithful readers out there. It is a privilege to be able to write freely about my thoughts and adventures, and to know there may be even just one person who reads that could have their lives changed, hopefully for the better.

We’ve all heard those “hillarious” in-law jokes, and no I won’t be sharing any of those today.

My in-laws rank up their with my favorite people to be with. Sure, when I’m with them I rarely spend a dime, but that’s not the reason I love them.

My wife’s parents have been there for us in so many ways, so many times it could definitely fill a book. They offered us a room in their house when we first got married. They have taken us on great vacations. They have blessed us with groceries. They bought us a van. My dad-in-law has assembled, repaired, repatched all sorts of things for us. They have willingly sacrificed so much. They have forgiven even more. They will come at the drop of a hat with hugs, food, money, or tools. They are wonderful grandparents, ready to spoil the grandkids any chance they get!

I know there are times we rub each other the wrong way. We all have different love languages, different opinions. We’ve had very different lives to this point. But they have graciously let me grow up and try to become a man, a husband, and father without stepping on toes (too much). :)

So, I want to say publicly, I’m sorry for the many times I’ve screwed up. Thank you for being patient as I mature. Thank you so much for all that you do for us. Thank you for all that you restrain from doing for us as well. Most of all, thank you for being our parents and friends. I’m glad I get to call you “Dad” and “Mom.”

To all my readers, I hope you have as awesome in-laws as I have.

Now, it’s your turn. Spread the love. Change the world. Share your Positive Post Tuesday!

Wonderful post. I have also been blessed with fantastic in-laws. When I hear others complain about their in-laws, I feel so bad for them, because I really love mine!

@annie thanks for reading. I would agree. I feel bad for those ppl, and I have a feeling it has more to do with them than their in-laws. Everyone, check out annie’s Positive Post @ http://redcedar.wordpress.com/

I love my in-laws, too, as you well Know but I also LUV your in-laws! Tara and Jay, you are great and deserve this positive post. I feel very blessed that we all can enjoy one another’s company and appreciate each others’ advice. Thank you for loving my son as if he was your very own!

Hey, you made me cry. Nathaniel, we love you more than you will ever know. We count it a privilege to know you, to see you grow and to be a part of your life. We thank you for your patience while we have grown in this area of being “the in-laws” and hopefully less like the “out-laws” :). You are a blessing to us in so many many ways and we are very thankful that you are a part of our family. We are very proud of you. Now please pass the kleenex…..:)
