Oh! Baltimore.

Well this was a weekend to remember. It started on Saturday evening when I got to play Guitar Hero for the first time ever. I rocked. It must have been the mustache that I sported for the day. Don’t worry, it’s gone (but should i get the chance to challenge Drew, I’ll have to grow it back).
The next highlight was Sunday evening. I traveled up to Baltimore with my parents and brothers to see Ruth, Relient K, and Switchfoot. Like Switchfoot is like totally my like favorite band ya know? And Relient K floats around between # 2 and # 5. But seeing them together was a real treat.
We finally found the arena, thanks to the little kid who gave us the best directions. One guy told us “You can’t miss it!” He underestimated our talent. But in our defense there were no signs, and it wasn’t exactly right on the side of the main road. We arrived in time for Ruth’s last song, and we had to rassle some kids out of our seats.
Relient K’s set was excellent. Matt was a little hoarse from a cold, but still belted the songs out in signature style. The Christmas song was quite fun, complete with blow up figurines and artificial snow. They also had a guest appearance from one the actors on “The Office.” After that, I got caught recording “High of ‘75″ and was escorted to the back where they had me delete it. What can I say, I’m just a trouble maker. For the rest of the night I made it easy for the “security” by just taking really blurry pictures of…well, there was supposed to be someone in the picture.
Switchfoot did not disappoint. We were four rows back on the right, with a good angle of Tim’s photogenic face. They began with “Meant to Live”, no, wait, with a sweet transition into “Oh! Gravity.” They were tight, they were funny, they were energetic. At one point they froze in place in the middle of a song. They stood perfectly still for what must have been 3 minutes before starting right back where they left off. It was hysterical. John’s antics with the cymbal during “Dirty Second Hands” was everything I expected. Stobes, spinning, craziness. I was a little disappointed with the crowd surrounding me during “Awakening.” I know jumping is sorta “junior high-ish” but let’s let loose and live a little! “Rebuild,” the theme song for the tour was a fun one with all the bands on stage. Matt T. came out with his Browns’ Jersey on , after they just thumped the Raven’s that afternoon. Gutsy move.
Too top it all off, Drew threw a pick into the crowd as he was leaving stage and it hit me in the chest. My brother, Evan, got it, but I told him it’s 50% mine.
